The Nest, starring Line of Duty’s Martin Compston, will stream on Acorn TV this summer.
Line of Duty veteran Martin Compston leads The Nest, a new TV crime drama that’s headed to Acorn TV in July.
The series stars Compston as Dan Docherty, who’s struggling to conceive a child with his wife Emily (Sophie Rundle, whom genre fans will recognize for her portrayal of Vicky Budd in the hit series Bodyguard).
Dan and Emily’s problems appear to be miraculously solved when Kaya (Sex Education‘s Mirren Mack) steps out in front of their car. Upon learning of Emily and Dan’s issue when they take her to the hospital, Kaya volunteers to be the couple’s next surrogate.
Unfortunately, Dan soon discovers that there’s much more to Kaya than meets the eye—putting the life of their unborn child, and possibly even his and his wife’s lives, in danger.
The Nest originally aired on BBC One this spring, and Deadline reports that Acorn TV has picked it up for a July 13 streaming launch in the United States and Canada.
It’s a perfect fit for thriller fans, because Acorn TV already streams Line of Duty, which features Martin Compston as dogged anti-corruption officer Steve Arnott. All five seasons are available to stream now; a sixth season is expected to premiere in late 2021.
The streamer is also home to Blood, an Irish TV crime drama led by Compston’s Line of Duty co-star Adrian Dunbar.
While he’s not wielding a badge in The Nest, Compston is still doing plenty of investigating in this domestic thriller, and it’s no spoiler to say that there’s a crime element to it. The co-starring cast around him is first-rate as well; Rundle’s performance opposite Richard Madden in Bodyguard was excellent. Watch the trailer below to get your first look.
The Nest will be available on Acorn TV starting July 13. Will you be watching? Let us know in the comments.
