How many episodes of NCIS Season 19 will Mark Harmon be in?

We knew that Mark Harmon would only be in a limited number of NCIS Season 19 episodes. How many episodes exactly will we get?

When we learned that NCIS Season 19 was officially happening, it came with the news that Harmon was stepping down to a limited capacity. Harmon is ready to leave the show but learned that it would likely mean the loss of hundreds of jobs. Instead of leaving the series completely, he decided to step back to keep the show on the air.

What we didn’t know was how limited his capacity would be. While we still don’t have all the details, TVLine has a little bit of information for us.

Don’t expect Harmon to be in too many episodes. However, Gary Cole is officially joining the show, which should help to soften the blow.

Mark Harmon set to be in a handful of NCIS Season 19 episodes

According to a source, the publication reports that Harmon is set to be in a very limited number of episodes. We’re looking at the “low single digits.”

This is certainly going to be disappointing for many fans. After all, Gibbs is the heart of the series and it’s going to be very hard not to hear him say “grab your gear” anymore.

How will he be in these limited episodes? The end of NCIS Season 18 saw Gibbs go out on his boat which ended up blown up. Gibbs was left for dead in the water, but then we saw him swim away at the last minute.

There are a lot of questions. Did Gibbs know there was a bomb on his boat? Did he put the bomb on his boat to fake his death? He was unofficially following a case involving a serial killer who had started tracking him. It was possible that he faked his death to get the serial killer off his tracks, and the episodes of NCIS Season 19 he’ll be involved in could continue that serial killer storyline.

NCIS Season 19 will air on Mondays at 9/8c on CBS in fall 2021.
