The Blacklist Season 9 is not coming to NBC in August 2021

We’re all waiting to see how The Blacklist will handle a season without Liz Keen. We have to wait, as The Blacklist Season 9 isn’t coming next month.

We’ve only just seen The Blacklist Season 8 finale, but we’re already looking ahead. After all, there are some big changes coming.

The first is that The Blacklist Season 9 won’t have Liz Keen. Megan Boone has left the series, and it looked like a permanent goodbye on the finale.

Boone isn’t the only exit. Showrunner Jon Bokenkamp has also stepped away from the show, suggesting that this could be the final season. However, we need to see how the show performs first, and that means tuning in for new episodes. They’re not coming next month, though.

The Blacklist Season 9 premiere date

We have a bit of a wait on our hands for the series. The Blacklist Season 9 premiere date is set, but it’s the last of the fall premieres on NBC.

We’re waiting until October for The Blacklist Season 9 premiere. This is at least earlier than the Season 8 premiere, which was in November! It’s not clear why we have to wait so long, but it’s likely linked to pandemic filming protocols for the series and the changes happening behind the scenes.

There’s no telling what Red will do next. Neville Townsend was taken care of, but he also had to say goodbye to the woman who was supposed to take over his enterprise. Now he needs to figure out what to do next.

The good news is we should get to rewatch The Blacklist Season 8 on Netflix soon. The show usually arrives in September, which was even the case for Season 7 during the pandemic year. We’ll keep an eye on the listings for you.

The Blacklist Season 9 will premiere on NBC on Oct. 21 at 8/7c.
