If you’re not watching Alaska Daily yet, you’ll want to use the winter break as a time to catch up. You’ve got time. Here’s when the show will return.
If there is one show you should be watching right now, it’s Alaska Daily. It doesn’t matter if you’re into crime dramas or not. This isn’t a crime drama at heart.
Sure, Hilary Swank’s character, Eileen Fitzgerald, is looking into the disappearances and murders of Native women and girls, but she’s not a detective. She’s an investigative reporter. This series isn’t based on a true story, but it is connected to a very real problem across North America.
The show is heading off on its fall break very soon. That means time to play catch up ready for it to return in the new year. ABC has set the January premiere dates, and we know when Alaska Daily is coming back.
Alaska Daily is back in February 2023
There is a little bit of bad news for those hoping for it to return in January. The series is on a bit of a longer break than the majority of shows. Like the rest of TGIT, it’s not coming back until February.
Put Thursday, Feb. 23 in your diary. The episode will air after the returns of Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy, so the episode is at 10 p.m. ET/PT as usual.
This isn’t a series that has been given a back order. That’s not too surprising, and I don’t think it has anything to do with the live ratings. I think the lack of back order is for the story tellers to tell the tale. This is written as a serialized story for Hilary Swank’s character. While there are procedural elements with the other reports, the main story is serialized and that requires the writers to know how many episodes are there for the story.
Hopefully, we’ll see a second season. Right now, ABC is probably waiting to see how the show performs when it returns in February.
Alaska Daily will return on Thursday, Feb. 23 after its winter break.
