NCIS: New Orleans said goodbye to one of its characters in Season 6, Episode 6. Are we sure? Is this a permanent goodbye?

As a word of caution, there are spoilers in this post for NCIS: New Orleans that aired on Nov. 5.

NCIS: New Orleans said goodbye to a character in Season 6, Episode 6. It was certainly a shock, especially when we had to say our goodbyes. However, that didn’t take away from a powerful episode of revenge, guest-starring CSI: NY‘s Eddie Cahill.

More from NCIS: New Orleans News

So, who did we say goodbye to? If you thought Lasalle was on a dangerous mission for revenge, you were right. Sadly, one of our original characters was shot as he went in search for answers. Price got to him and had him airlifted to the best hospital in the area, but it wasn’t enough. Mumbling “Let’s go fishing, Cade…,” Lasalle died in the hospital to the shock of everybody.

And yes, everybody.

As an original character and still in the main credits, did we really expect to say goodbye to Lucas Black? Usually, we get some sort of warning that one of our lead characters is leaving the series. While there were some fears considering the path Lasalle was heading down, we’d hoped that Price would be able to pull him back from the brink, right?

Lasalle’s death did lead to the arrest of the guy who killed Cade. There is some good that came out of the shocking death.

Yes, this is a real death. It’s not some dream and there isn’t a twist still to come. Showrunners Christopher Silber and Jan Nash confirmed with TVLine that this is the end for Lucas Black, despite him still being an important part of NCIS: New Orleans.

We got a beautiful episode mixed in with the arrest for the Lasalle brothers’ deaths. Each of the leads got a chance to think back to important moments with Lasalle, usually when he was supporting them in ways that only he could. Whether you’ve watched from day one of the show, with the two-hour backdoor pilot or you’ve caught the show in recent years and had to catch up, this was an emotional episode. Lasalle (and Lucas Black) will be missed in NCIS: New Orleans.
