FBI ratings for Nov. 5: Season 2 returns down slightly after break
FBI ratings took a decent hit on Nov. 5 as Season 2 returned from its one-week Halloween hiatus. See the latest FBI numbers.
FBI ratings dropped this week, as the show returned to CBS after the network preempted the sophomore crime drama due to the Halloween holiday.
Tuesday’s episode “Outsider” totaled a live audience of 8.54 million, which is a slight decrease from its last new episode on Oct. 22 (at 8.82 million, for a loss of 0.28, or 280,000).
Overall, it’s the show’s lowest number in its last three outings, but FBI is still one of the most popular broadcast TV shows on Tuesday nights.
Even with the drop, it had the third largest audience on the evening, behind only its lead-in NCIS and ABC‘s presentation of The Little Mermaid Live.

And since the latter was a one-night-only event, that means the Dick Wolf series is still the second most-watched broadcast TV program on Tuesdays.
More: What was missing from this week’s NCIS episode?
“Outsider” was the clear winner in its 9 p.m. time slot, well ahead of the second place This Is Us (which brought in 6.69 million live eyeballs, making its audience almost two million people smaller). So while the NBC series may have critical acclaim, the CBS program has the larger audience tuned in to watch right away.
When it comes to the key demographic (adults 18-49), the show stayed steady at 0.8. That’s generally what FBI Season 2 has been doing all along.
That 0.8 score is fifth among the 12 broadcast TV programs that air on Tuesdays. That was second behind This Is Us, and FBI probably won’t close that gap since the NBC series scored a 1.3.
But being in the Top 5 is still nothing to complain about, and coming off a holiday week repeat, the numbers are still pretty good. With numbers like these and a spinoff still on the way, Season 3 has to be in the very near future.
Especially considering that FBI is the youngest show in the CBS block, it’s doing very well for itself within context. NCIS will always be the clear winner on Tuesdays, but the series is outpacing NCIS: New Orleans by a large margin, and is already building its own franchise. Keep an eye on this for a possible early renewal.
