TV crime dramas to watch: Dec. 1 to Dec. 8, 2019
Which TV crime dramas should you watch this week? A new Stumptown episode is one of our picks for the week of Dec. 1-8, 2019.
With so many TV crime dramas on the air, which ones should you watch and which ones can you skip? Our weekly watchlist will tell you which crime dramas are worth your time this week.
For the week of Dec. 1 to Dec. 8, with many shows in repeats, fans will need to look a little harder to find something interesting to watch. But never fear, there are options if you’re willing to try out some different things!
Here’s what to watch in TV crime dramas this week, along with previews where available:
Tuesday, Dec. 3 @ 9:00 p.m. ET/PT: FBI Season 1, Episode 20: “What Lies Beneath”
FBI takes a step back into its first season on Tuesday, with an episode that shows why it’s become one of the top TV crime dramas. Zeeko Zaki delivers an excellent performance as his character, OA Zidan, is put in a difficult position. He’s supposed to protect an Egyptian dignitary—but the guy is one of those politicians who you’d rather see take a long walk off a short pier.
Naturally, OA wants to do his job but he also can’t turn a blind eye. And as if that’s not enough, the episode has a legitimate threat that he has to stop, too. What will he do? And will he be able to live with himself after he does it? For a crime drama, this episode is particularly character-driven.
Wednesday, Dec. 4 @ 10:00 p.m. ET/PT: Stumptown Season 1, Episode 8: “The Other Woman”
Stumptown is one of the rare TV crime dramas that’s still airing new episodes in December. This week’s episode is another one about Dex Parios’s (Cobie Smulders) past. Except instead of being about her ex-girlfriend, now it’s her ex-boyfriend that’s the subject.
Remember in the pilot when Sue Lynn Blackbird (Tantoo Cardinal) and Dex were discussing her failed relationship with her son? Well, said son also had a wife, and now Dex is about to meet his widow. This won’t go well. Hopefully this episode won’t be as cliche as the previous “Dex, Drugs and Rock & Roll,” but either way it will continue to give more insight into the hero’s backstory.
Thursday, Dec. 5 @ 9:00 p.m. ET/PT: Court Cam Series Premiere
Not all TV crime dramas are scripted! A&E has made a huge push into the true crime space, and that continues Thursday with the premiere of Court Cam. Dan Abrams (Live PD) hosts the half-hour show that broadcasts the most outrageous moments that have taken place in courtrooms. Abrams will also occasionally interview people featured in the clips.
Think of it as a court version of America’s Funniest Home Videos, except it’s not supposed to be funny. Unless you’re referring to Abrams’ mastery of puns, in which case it might be hilarious.
