The FBI Season 2 winter finale left us with the fate of one of our own in danger. Will make it through the winter premiere alive?

Caution: There are spoilers from the FBI Season 2 winter finale, just in case you couldn’t guess from the title!

The FBI Season 2 winter finale promised us an intense case. It involved kidnap victims, a serial killer, and more. But more importantly, it ended with a major cliffhanger that would launch us into the winter break with plenty of questions.

One of our own is in danger. At the very end of the episode, Kristen ran in front of an attacker to protect Maggie but was stabbed in the neck. The last we saw, OA was calling for an ambulance, as Maggie begged Kristen to hold on. Will she be able to?

More from FBI on CBS News

Let’s be honest, it’s unlikely. A stab to the neck usually means death. There are only a handful of cases where characters make it out alive, such as Wesley surviving getting his throat slashed during the Angel Season 3 finale. We usually see the victim succumb to their injuries, starting a path of justice. Just look at NCIS: New Orleans for an example of that.

However, there’s no need for a path of justice after this. The person who stabbed Kristen was shot down by OA and Stuart. Really, this incident is more about the potential for learning from mistakes.

Who has a mistake to learn from, though? Kristen did, in a way, make a mistake by protecting Maggie, but she acted on instinct. It was something OA or Stuart would have done for Maggie or Kristen. Hey, Maggie would have done it for any of her colleagues. This isn’t something to blame her for.

“Ties that Bind” — A former kidnapping victim is linked to a series of murders that includes the daughter of an NYPD detective. Also, Kristen begins to doubt her ability as an agent after a training exercise leaves her shaken, on FBI, Tuesday, Dec. 17 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Instead, the mistake was on the NYPD officer. Stepping in for answers about his daughter was a huge mistake, make a tense situation ever worse. Had he not walked in, there was a chance Maggie and Kristen could have talked the suspect down and brought him into custody.

The death of Kristen will put pressure on taking action against the NYPD brass. He failed to follow instructions from the FBI and it cost a life. Even if it doesn’t cost a life, it’s going to potentially cost Kristen her career or make her further doubt herself and put her back behind a desk.

It’s hard to tell which way the writers will go. There are great storylines either way because if Kristen does survive, there’s the chance for her to build her confidence back up.

Which storyline do you think the writers will opt for? Is there a way for Kristen to survive that? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
