At the end of the Chicago PD Season 7 fall finale, Halstead was critically injured. We got answers about his fate in the winter premiere. Did he survive?

Chicago PD Season 7’s fall finale left the fate of one of our own on the line. Halstead, after telling Angela who he really was, ended up shot with his fate on the line. We had to wait all winter break to find out if he would live or die.

You didn’t really think Chicago PD would kill off one of their main characters, right? Okay, so Fire did it recently, but would two One Chicago shows pull the same stunt? Probably not. So it really shouldn’t be that surprising to find out that he’s survived.

The miraculous recovery

More from Chicago PD News

It was a bit of a miraculous recovery, though. His brother, Will, mentioned that the bullet had grazed an artery and there was a lot of blood loss. By the end of the episode, he’s ready to go home. What’s the betting that at the start of the next episode, he’ll be back on duty?

This is a problem all the One Chicago shows have. They put in these high-stake cliffhangers and then do nothing with them. Chicago Fire really upped the game with its Season 8 premiere, and I hope to see PD learns from this. Sure, I don’t want to lose one of our favorites, but at the same time, these life-or-death situations aren’t really that scary if there’s no risk taken to follow through with it.

What about Angela?

Voight had to deal with Angela, who was cuffed to one of the hospital beds. He was more than happy to see her go down for life for what she did, and then she made it clear that she would talk. She’d tell everyone what Halstead did and how it ended up causing her husband’s death.

I get that she’s grieving, but Halstead was doing his job. He also wasn’t the only one involved with her husband going down for something that he didn’t do. It is hard to see through the glass of grief, though, and Voight can see that.

So, he manages to find a way to help Angela. If she doesn’t talk to anyone and further put Halstead’s life on the line, he will make sure her prison sentence is shorter than it could be. After all, she could be facing 20 years behind bars for the attempted murder of a police officer.

Next. Chicago PD needs to focus on other characters more. dark
