It shouldn’t be surprising to hear a crossover between FBI and FBI: Most Wanted is coming. Here’s what we know about the FBI crossover so far.

Considering the success of the One Chicago crossovers on NBC, it really shouldn’t be that surprising that an FBI crossover is coming to CBS. Considering FBI: Most Wanted started as a backdoor pilot, that’s doubly not that surprising.

Dick Wolf and CBS confirmed that the two shows would in fact crossover. But not just a crossover is on its way. We learned that the FBI crossover is set for the spring, starting in New York. This is clearly something that has been in the works for a while to make sure schedules for the two shows line up.

What’s going to be interesting is how the two shows manage a crossover. It’s already been done once before, but that was to introduce the FBI: Most Wanted cast and to see if a spin-off could work. The writers of the two shows will need to step up the game moving forward, especially with two-hours of television instead of just the one.

In fact, that’s the benefit of CBS putting FBI‘s spin-off in the hour after the parent show. It allows for easier crossovers, creating a movie event instead of two episodes over the course of two nights. The movie events on one night have certainly helped improve the success of the One Chicago crossovers, especially with the most recent, which felt like a real three-hour movie event.

Speaking of One Chicago crossovers, Deadline also reports that an FBI crossover with Chicago PD could be possible. All shows are Dick Wolf shows, so crossing over is much easier than with other production company-run shows, even though they’re on different networks.

It would be fun to find out that all shows are within the same universe. After all, they do follow the same political situations and there are no fantasy elements to make sure they stick within the same world.
