Chicago PD delivered a heartbreaking but powerful episode with I Was Here. Now it’s time to look forward for Burgess. How is she going to handle things?

Chicago PD Season 7, Episode 14 was a major episode of Kim Burgess. Now it’s time to look ahead to see what this could mean for her moving forward.

Caution: If you haven’t watch “I Was Here,” there are spoilers in this post. Make sure you’ve watched it all the way to the end before you read on.

There was a moment at the end of the episode that the majority of Chicago PD fans had guessed. Not only would a future with a baby be difficult, but the entire One Chicago franchise has delivered this sort of storyline for their female leads. Whatever the reasons for it, Kim Burgess lost her baby.

It was a devastating ending for this storyline. Kim had made a huge decision in accepting her time as a 9-1-1 dispatcher instead of being with Intelligence temporarily. She put her unborn child first, but in the end, protecting a young girl became too important for her.

Burgess will likely close off

More from Chicago PD News

Burgess is known for keeping her feelings to herself as much as possible. She doesn’t want to open up or accept help. Just looking at how she dealt with the initial knowledge of her pregnancy offers a hint of what she’s going to do next?

She’s not going to want to talk about everything that’s happened. She won’t want to lean on Ruzek for support. There’s absolutely no way that she will want sympathy or kindness from her team members.

In fact, I have a feeling she’ll start pushing as many people away as possible until it gets too much; until she breaks and either almost gets herself killed or messes up on a case.

She will blame herself

One thing is for certain: she’s going to blame herself for this loss. She’d accepted her role as a 9-1-1 dispatcher for the remaining months of her pregnancy. While she wasn’t happy with the situation, she was at least willing to put her unborn baby first. Then she made the decision to head off alone.

Sure, had she not gone out in the field, the young girl who was being sex trafficked would have died. Intelligence wouldn’t have made it to the motel in time. She made a sacrifice for the safety of someone else, but that won’t stop herself from blaming herself.

And that will link to her closing off. She won’t want to feel like others blame her. There’s enough blame within herself already.

We’ll likely see a downward spiral at this point. How long will it last in Chicago PD Season 7? I give it at least three or four episodes.

Next. Hopes for a Chicago PD and FBI crossover event. dark
