The episode all kicks off with the murder of a homeless man. In many TV shows, there’s little sympathy shown, but that’s never the case for the One Chicago shows. They always treat the homeless community with kindness and concern, making sure as many of them are helped as possible even if they can’t prevent the situation.

In this episode, the case involves a criminal who has managed to avoid capture for years. Is now the time for him to be put behind bars?
But while all this happens, Rojas gets a chance to come into focus for what feels like the first time, except for her introduction. She comes across a young man who is struggling with mental illness. It’s a chance for the show to put a focus on mental health, which is extremely important.
While it sounds like a story better suited for a medical drama, there are plenty of reasons for a cop drama to focus on the topic. Mental illness can lead to people doing questionable and, sometimes, illegal activities. However, rather than being viewed as criminals, they need to be treated with respect and consideration to make sure they are not a danger to others or themselves.
Right now, there isn’t much on what could happen with Burgess. I do have a feeling that we’ll go an episode without really seeing her too much. If we do, we’ll likely start to see the downward spiral as she (fails to) deal with her miscarriage. It could also link in with the mental illness storyline as I suspect there will be an understandable depression storyline coming up.
