There’s still a lot to learn about Agent Carter on NCIS: New Orleans. However, he certainly showed promise on the Season 6 finale.

Agent Quentin Carter isn’t going to win any friendship awards just yet. However, he showed some promise on the NCIS: New Orleans Season 6 finale.

Carter was introduced as a cocky agent. He made it clear that he didn’t want to be part of a family, but it looks like things are changing. It’s clear that something is holding him back from getting close to anyone, which I’d hoped would be explored in the sixth season.

Maybe it was meant to be. Sadly, the season was cut short unexpectedly, and instead, we’ve got just a hint of what could be in store for Carter should the series be renewed for a seventh season. The good news is that he’s showing some promise as being part of the team.

In the Season 6 finale, Carter went out of his way to help Hannah Khoury. After initially setting up a meeting with the Pearl Harbor agent he once worked with, Carter decided to look into Khoury’s file. This wasn’t to be disrespectful of Khoury’s privacy but to find out exactly why she was demoted in the first place.

From there, he was able to do some digging. It was Carter’s actions that gave Khoury some ammo to go up against Deputy Director Van Cleef. And it was hard evidence needed to prove that she wasn’t the leak.

At no point did Khoury ask Carter to do this. She asked nobody to help her except put her in touch with the Pearl Harbor agent. As much as he says he doesn’t want to be part of a family, Carter showed interest. There’s a hint that a family is what he needs, he just doesn’t realize it yet.

This continues my belief that there’s more to Carter’s story. Something happened to him when he was a Marine that has caused him to pull away from everyone. It’s not just his work relationships but all relationships. Someone has hurt him and he doesn’t want to get close to anyone in fear of that hurt again.

Khoury could be the person he needs to bring him past that fear. This team could be just what he needs to realize that the risk of pain is worth it for such a tight-knit family. Now we need NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 to give us more of this story.
