Is there a chance for Burden of Truth Season 4 to happen?

Burden of Truth Season 3 certainly delivered a strong story. While there was an element rushed at the end, we got to see the systemic racism within Canada in a show that offered more roles to non-white actors. Now, we need to see more.

So far, CBC hasn’t confirmed if Burden of Truth Season 4 is happening. However, if it does, there’s a strong chance that The CW will pick up the season for U.S. audiences.

According to TV Series Finale, the average live demo and audience were up from the previous season, sitting at 0.505 million viewers and a 0.1 demo rating. While those figures seem small, they were up 5% and 21% respectively. Plus, The CW isn’t putting in money to produce the series, making smaller live ratings more viable.

The question is whether CBC will choose to renew the show. Without the Canadian network’s backing, there isn’t anything for The CW to license.

There is some hope for Burden of Truth Season 4

Let’s start with the good news. It sounds like the main stars are on board with the idea. Peter Mooney, who plays Billy on the series, is excited to continue the story, according to TVLine. While the show seemed to end, there is still a lot of hope for the future.

There are storylines that involve how Joanna and Billy can make running a law firm and having a family work. We know many women are expected to give up their jobs even in a time when women are fighting for more equality. Mothers are almost always the main parent. So, will that be the case between these two or could the show offer a look of a father stepping up to do the majority of the parenting?

There’s even still the idea of an engagement and marriage. Billy back in Season 1 would have insisted on this, but it wasn’t even mentioned in the third season finale. That could be a plot point to cause tension between the parents in the fourth season.

However, if Burden of Truth Season 3 is the end, at least the show has wrapped up its storylines. We have what seems to be a fleshed-out ending with the flashforward, with plenty of theories on what the parents will do next. Plus, we got to see a hint of where Luna and Kat are in the firm (and with each other).

The third season was certainly the strongest, though. We need more of these important Canadian stories moving forward.
