NCIS: New Orleans season 6 is now on DVD.

This week NCIS: New Orleans season 6 arrives home in a DVD release from CBS Home Entertainment. But what’s in the box set for the most recent season of the CBS drama and is it worth owning?

The sixth season was a busy one, with an original cast member leaving the show during the first part and their replacement being introduced shortly thereafter. It also ended ahead of schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but still contained 20 episodes that featured memorable guest stars.

Get all the details about this week’s DVD release in our review, and purchase this set on Amazon, where it retails for $39.96 as of this writing.

NCIS: New Orleans season 6 DVD details

NCIS: New Orleans season 6 comes to DVD on a five-disc set containing all 20 episodes. There is no Blu-Ray release for this season.

English is the only supported language, both in audio and subtitles for those who are hard of hearing. However, CBS does note that “special features may not be subtitled,” so not everything is captioned.

The most interesting thing about this release is that the video is 16:9 widescreen, when the recent releases for the other two shows in the franchise were in full-frame. Why does NOLA get the widescreen presentation when the others don’t? Who knows, but widescreen is definitely preferable, so that’s a big positive.

NCIS: New Orleans season 6 DVD special features

Firstly, big spoiler alert: if you’re buying this season without having seen all of the episodes, do not look at the back of the DVD box—the title of one of the special features is a MAJOR SPOILER that reveals who leaves the series and how their character is written out. As such, we won’t be naming it in this review either.

But there is a featurette that specifically focuses on that exiting cast member, as well as a usual making-of piece about the season called “Six of One.” Those are the only two extras on the set.

Given that, unless you really want the physical copy, you’re probably better off getting the digital copy of this season at a retailer like Amazon Video, as it’ll save you some money ($28.99). There are no bonuses if you buy the season digitally, but the $10.00 difference is significant.
