Everything we know about One of Us Is Lying on Peacock so far

Peacock is picking up new shows now that it’s launched. One of the list is One of Us Is Lying, an adaptation of the Karen M. McManus book of the same name.

The book is a little like Elite meets Pretty Little Liars. Five high schoolers go into the detention one day but only four of them make it out alive. Everyone in that room is a suspect, and everyone seems to have something to hide. Who did it?

It will be interesting to see how the adaptation works out. Here’s what we know about it so far.

One of Us Is Lying release date

Right now, there isn’t a release date set. That being said, we do have the title card for the series, which is very similar to the book cover.

There will be eight episodes to the season, which helps to keep the storyline contained. Right now, it’s only the first book and the first season. There is a second book in the story, which could be adapted if this series turns out to be a success.

One of Us Is Lying cast

In a Peacock press release, we did get the list of the cast on the series right now. We have found out that the show will star:

  • Marianly Tejada as Bronwyn
  • Cooper van Grootel as Nate
  • Annalisa Cochrane as Addy
  • Chibuikem Uche as Cooper
  • Barrett Carnahan as Jake
  • Jessica McLeod as Janae
  • Melissa Collazo as Maeve
  • Chase Stokes as TJ
  • Mark McKenna as Simon
  • Zenia Marshall as Keely
  • Sara Thompson as Vanessa
  • Martin Bobb-Semple as Evan
  • Andre Anthony as Kris
  • JayR Tinaco as Yumiko (aka Miko)

While the initial press release didn’t have all this information, McManus took to Instagram to give us the full breakdown of the cast.

Darío Madrona will serve as showrunner. Fans know him best for Elite, which makes him the perfect person to take on this new project. After all, One of Us Is Lying is so much like Elite.

Erica Saleh wrote the pilot and will also serve as executive producer. Jennifer Morrison (best known for House and Once Upon a Time) produced and directed the pilot. John Sacchi and Matt Groesch will serve as executive producers.

One of Us Is Lying trailer

The show hasn’t done anything more than the pilot yet. This would usually be enough to release a quick trailer, but there isn’t one out yet.

We’ll keep an eye out for this. However, before you see the trailer, I do recommend reading the book. It’s a good one.

Take a look at the teaser for the series:

One of Us Is Lying synopsis

The series is going to follow the main premise of the book. It’s a young adult mystery drama that involves five high school students going into detention but one of them not making it out alive.

The big question is what happened to that solo student. Was that student murdered or was it an accident? Everyone becomes a suspect, and they all have their own secrets.

If you’re like me and you’ve read the book, don’t give the ending away for those who are only finding out about it for the first time!

There is a sequel to the story. We’ll have to wait and see if that’s going to be adapted. Not spoilers on that storyline as it gives away the ending to One Of Us Is Lying.
