There are five reasons why Starz Power Book II: Ghost is worth watching

Power is back with Power Book II: Ghost.

The spinoff to the original Starz hit series Power is set to premiere on Sunday, Sept. 6. Power Book II: Ghost is a spinoff with a 10-episode order that will elaborate on the aftermath of the St. Patricks after the Power finale revealed James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick) was fatally shot by his son Tariq (Michael Rainey Jr.).

The series is expected to have three additional season-long spinoffs for characters Kanan (50 Cent), Tommy Egan (Joseph Sikora), and Rashad Tate (Larenz Tate).

The sixth and final season of Power was a 15-episode ride. The mid-season finale saw Ghost take a victory lap to bloviate in the face of each of his doubters after a news broadcast revealed James would join a ticket to become a candidate as Lieutenant Governor of New York. The characters who tried to takedown Ghost by cooperating with the fed’s discovered he was unstoppable and held too much power as a political candidate within the state.

His victory lap was short-lived when he was fatally shot in his nightclub Truth which would spin into their final five-episode arc dubbed “Who Shot Ghost?”

The series had a 63-episode run and will continue to add to their legacy with what seems to be at least four spinoffs to the original story.

"“There was so many different stories of each individual character that were not necessarily flushed out enough — the spinoffs come out of that,” Hardwick said in an interview on Sway’s Universe. “So individual characters are broken into storylines that are called the spinoffs.”"

Power Book II: Ghost will be the spinoff that further tells the story of Tariq and Tasha. On Power, James revealed to both Tasha and Tariq that he regret not going to school when he was young and built a world so that Tariq could take advantage of the opportunities that he never had such as school. Tariq revealed in the series finale that he is just like Ghost so from the spinoff there may be parallels between Tariq and a young James.

Through Tariq the audience may be able to learn how James took the path of Ghost. Through the process, Tariq has Tasha who will probably drop clues of how James became Ghost.
