NCIS: New Orleans lands Chelsea Field as series regular on Season 7

There is some excellent news for fans of Chelsea Field’s character, Rita Devereaux. The actress has been upped to series regular on NCIS: New Orleans Season 7.

Very little is known so far. Deadline broke the news about the new addition, reminding us that she’s been part of the series for four years now. Like a few other recurring guest stars, she pops up now and then with cases or to help in situations. Rita was also the one-time girlfriend of Scott Bakula’s Dwayne Pride.

Does being bumped up to series regular mean the relationship is back on? It’s certainly possible. There’s no doubt the two have chemistry considering they are real-life husband and wife.

When will NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 premiere?

That’s all we know about the character so far. We don’t even know if she’ll be in the series premiere, although it’s possible that this will be a good time to reintroduce her to the series.

We’ll jump into the series during the pandemic, giving us a look at how Loretta is handling the situation. The creators of the series thought it important to give us that storyline, especially since the coroner’s office will be overworked and understaffed.

Rita could pop up offering help as a volunteer. Or she could lend a helping hand on a case that is pushing everyone to the edge as they all work during the pandemic and deal with people not wearing their masks.

There’s still no word on when NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 will premiere. The show has been the last of the NCIS series to return to filming, which could mean it’s the last to premiere on CBS. The Eye network is looking to premiere shows in November, similarly to NBC and ABC, but hasn’t released definite dates just yet.

NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 will air Sundays at 10/9c on CBS when it returns.
