Carter is finding a home with the NCIS: New Orleans team

He won’t want to admit it right now, but Carter is starting to become part of the family on NCIS: New Orleans.

During the Season 7 premiere, he and Tammy spent time getting to know each other. We didn’t get too much time of their bonding, but it’s clear there is a bond forming. After all, at the end of the episode, the two are finishing up their quarantine together at Carter’s place rather than Tammy having to do it alone somewhere else or putting Sebastian at risk. They’ve got time during that to form a bond.

If he wasn’t starting to become part of the family, he and Tammy would have constantly butt heads. They wouldn’t have got much done, but they opened up a little to each other about their families back home.

At the end of Season 6, Carter also started to form a bond with Hannah, helping her connect with someone else who had been hurt in their career because of a deputy director unable to accept that women can be just as good (if not better, at times) than men.

As much as he won’t want to admit it right now, he’s starting to become part of Pride’s family. We knew that was likely to be the case. After all, Pride doesn’t accept just anyone on his team in the way that Gibbs will always pick his team members.

When will we learn more about Carter on NCIS: New Orleans?

Something that is clear is Carter has baggage. There’s something from his past that stops him wanting to get close to anyone, and it’s likely all linked to his time as a Marine.

Marines are a family. They don’t leave brothers behind. For Carter to decide that he doesn’t want to be part of another family (and not to talk about his former Marine family) tells me that there’s something big that happened that has closed him off to the world.

Hopefully, NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 can bring us a Carter-focused story. That’s not been easy with the opening two episodes. They’re pandemic-focused and have offered us a lot of time focused on Loretta. Now that we’re over this hurdle (although the pandemic isn’t over), we’ll be able to spend more time on the other characters.

It’s time to get to know more about Carter. But I’m warming up to him a lot…okay, I saw through his facade and wanted to get to know more about him from the beginning.

Next. We need to give Agent Carter a chance. dark

NCIS: New Orleans Season 7 airs Sundays on CBS.
