NCIS is officially on its winter break. There isn’t going to be another episode in 2020. When will NCIS Season 18 return in 2021?

We’re going to be waiting a while. Usually, the show returns with new episodes at the beginning of January, but CBS hasn’t released its full plan for return dates and midseason premieres just yet. We can work with the dates CBS has already to get an idea of when NCIS Season 18, Episode 4 is likely to air.

Update: CBS has put NCIS Season 18’s return on the schedule for Jan. 19. Two episodes will air on that day.

We’re looking at the end of January for the show’s return

Deadline recently reported that FBI Season 3’s midseason premiere would happen on Jan. 24. It’s getting a one-off episode on a Sunday, taking advantage of the post-AFC Championship Game timeslot. After that, the show will move back to Tuesdays, starting with Jan. 26.

The Tuesday TV crime dramas on CBS tend to follow the same schedule. If one show is taking a night off, the other two shows tend to do the same. This isn’t always the case, but it’s common. So, we could be looking at Jan. 26 as a return date for NCIS Season 18.

If CBS wants to keep the shows on the same number of episodes starting on Jan. 26, we could see Gibbs and co. return the week earlier.

What will happen on NCIS Season 18, Episode 4?

CBS hasn’t revealed anything about the episode just yet. There’s no need to with a long wait for the episode.

Teases for the new episode will likely come toward the end of the month, even if it’s just a synopsis. However, don’t expect a promo until about a week before the release.

There’s one major storyline for the show to pick up with. Gibbs needs to find out where Fornell is. He hasn’t been at his fast-food job for two days, and Gibbs knows that’s a huge problem. Fornell had found drugs in the freezer at the place, meaning he was getting closer to the drug kingpin that sold the drugs that almost killed his daughter.

Will Gibbs finally get all hands on deck to solve the case? Possibly not considering we’re still waiting to see why Gibbs shot McGee.
