Carter decides to trust a teammate on NCIS: New Orleans Season 7
One thing Carter has tried to do since arriving on NCIS: New Orleans is to keep his personal life separate from his private life. It’s all starting to bleed in now.
During NCIS: New Orleans Season 7, Episode 7, Carter’s mom turns up. She needs Carter to go through an FBI background check, which should be pretty simple. It’s soon clear that he has something to hide.
Rather than deal with it himself, Carter turns to a teammate for advice Hanna is the one who he trusts with what he has to share. More importantly, she’s the one who will offer advice and not judge the situation.
Carter took the fall for his brother’s actions
Quentin Carter has a DUI. It was a minor situation in high school and nobody was hurt. But all of that shouldn’t be a problem, right? The FBI would already know about this.
Well, the problem is Carter wasn’t actually the one who was driving that night. It was his brother, but Carter took the fall because his brother had the most potential. It was an admirable decision, but it’s going to come back to haunt him.
The local police sent Carter a red light photo. It proves that Carter wasn’t driving that night. Now either Carter can keep going down the rabbit hole and eventually get caught or he would have to own up to it all now.

What will Carter do on NCIS: New Orleans?
In the end, Hanna encouraged Carter to tell his mom the truth. It’s clear they don’t have a warm relationship. Maybe this is why he’s chosen not to get close to anyone. He’s been so hurt by his family that he doesn’t want to get hurt by anyone else.
It’s certainly a good insight into his life. It’s clear that his sister and brother are the more favored ones. Carter is the middle child, which would lead to middle child syndrome. He was also not the most academically blessed, so didn’t get the achievements his parents expected from him. That made him the screw up, and he’s tried to stay away from those thoughts ever since then.
It explains why he didn’t call his parents when he was on the ship surrounded by COVID.
But what did he decide to do at the end of NCIS: New Orleans Season 7, Episode 7? He told his mom the truth. Of course, she judged him for the choice he made, but arguably, it’s more to do with her rather than her son. It puts her promotion at risk, and she’s not happy about that.
What we don’t know is what Carter will do next. We’ll have to wait a couple of weeks to find out whether he’ll tell the truth and what the fallout will be.
