Deacon had a choice to make on SWAT Season 4, Episode 15. Would he put his career on the line, or would he let the racist cops get away with everything?

It should have been an easy decision for Deacon to make. He knew the dangers of allowing racist cops on the street, but there was that nagging thought that cops don’t turn on other cops. It’s a topic that’s come up in many other TV crime dramas, including Chicago PD and The Rookie.

Hondo was understandably angry. At the same time, he understood why Deacon wasn’t willing to do anything. After all, Hicks confirmed that it wouldn’t matter if anything was brought to Internal Affairs. It would be about burden of truth, and it likely wouldn’t have led to the racist cops being fired if there wasn’t any physical evidence.

So, Deacon needed to get some. He was the only one likely invited back to the barbecue. Hondo wanted Deacon to record conversations with the cops, but Deacon didn’t want to do that.

What did Deacon do on SWAT Season 4, Episode 15?

Hondo admitted to Nichelle that he understood why Deacon wasn’t willing to turn on the cops. It could end up ruining his career. That didn’t stop him from being angry, though. Why should Black people (and other people of color) be at a higher risk because racist cops could be protected.

It also didn’t help that Deacon didn’t realize that some of the comments made were ones Deacon had laughed off in the past. That doesn’t make the comments okay.

In the end, Deacon did the right thing. He recorded the cops at the next barbecue and turned to Annie about it. After the chat and admitting that he couldn’t see how their bias wouldn’t be applied on the job, Deacon chose to turn to Internal Affairs.

Of course, Durham is angry. He’s threatened because of his views, views that he doesn’t even see a problem with. He also threatened Deacon, along with a reminder that cops will turn on Deacon because he went up against the blue line.

This is sure to come back to hurt Deacon on SWAT, but he did the right thing. Let’s just hope this doesn’t put his whole family at risk. At least Deacon’s team will have his back.
