NCIS Season 18, Episode 15 introduced a potential new team member, Jessica Knight. Will Katrina Law be promoted to series regular on NCIS Season 19?

From the promos for the episode, it looked like Jessica Knight was going to be cocky and definitely not a team player. In the end, she was just a grieving agent looking to get answers. She worked with the team, although there were moments she went in without waiting for backup.

She certainly made an impression, and at the end, there was the hint that Knight may become part of the team. This was hinted at when Katrina Law joined the series. While she’s joining the final two episodes of Season 18 as a recurring guest star, there is the option to make her a series regular in Season 19.

It’s likely that the show is introducing her now to get a sense of how fans will react. And personally, I felt she got off to a great start. The ending as she talks about losing her family made it clear that this is a woman who is loyal to her team, and she will be looking for a new home now.

Is there going to be a space for Jessica Knight on NCIS Season 19?

Knight certainly proved her skills. She also brings something different to the other members of the team, offering her abilities to talk people down from hostage situations. She’s tactical and quick-thinking, which will certainly come in handy.

However, is there a space for her on the team? It looks like Gibbs is ready to leave his job for good. After being suspended for so long, he’s finished up his boat. (Will we ever find out how he gets the boats out of his basement?)

The boat is called Rule 91, and we find out in the promo for the NCIS Season 18 finale that the rule is “When you decide to quit, don’t look back.” Is this a hint that he’s not looking back and he’s going to quit the team? Would that put McGee in charge to find someone to fill the gap left. And no, there is no replacement for Gibbs, but there is a gap on the team if he does leave.

Even if Gibbs doesn’t go, there’s still a chance that Jessica could join the team. We’ve seen more than four agents on the team in the past. And we could definitely do with another woman as a permanent fixture on the show!
