Is Walker renewed for Season 2?

While the Walker Season 1 finale is still a couple of months away, eyes are on the future of the show. Will there be a Season 2 of The CW series?

After 15 great seasons on Supernatural, Jared Padalecki took on the lead of a new CW series. He is Cordell Walker in the reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger. It’s a series that we weren’t too sure of what to expect, but it quickly proved to be a success.

Part of that is certainly due to the rest of the case. Lindsey Morgan is excellent as Micki, one of the first female Texas Rangers. Coby Bell stands out as Captain James, Cordell’s former partner and now captain. Keegan Allen, Mitch Peliggi, Molly Hagen, and many more round out the cast of this series that keeps us tuned in from week to week.

It’s a series that offers a mixture of the procedural and serialized format. There are episodes that involve the case of the week, but there has been the big question of who killed Cordell’s wife, Emily, from the very beginning. Now there’s the story of Cordell’s undercover past coming back to haunt him.

As we get closer to the end of the season, there’s no doubt that you’re curious if there will be more. Let’s dive into what we know.

Has Walker been renewed?

After just a couple of episodes, The CW announced the great news. The first new series on the network to debut quickly scored a renewal. It wasn’t that surprising considering the series quickly proved to be one of the best in terms of ratings.

While the live ratings have dipped recently, there’s nothing to be concerned about. To be honest, this stop-start schedule is not helping matters and multiple shows have suffered this season because of it.

Is there going to be a Season 2 of Walker?

Oh yes, there is going to be a second season. What that second season will be about is anyone’s guess at this point. We still have six episodes of the first season at the time of writing this. It could set up some storylines for Season 2 or it could just wrap up the first season.

One thing we do know is we’ll see more of Geri. Odette Annable has been promoted to series regular on the show.

When does the new season of Walker start?

Since the Season 1 finale isn’t going to air until August, you may be worried about when Season 2 will premiere. The CW has plans to keep the series in the fall schedule despite the delayed season finale.

While there has been a bit of change elsewhere in the schedule, Thursday nights will look the same. We’ll get new episodes of Walker at 8/7c followed by new episodes of Legacies.
