Blue Bloods Season 12 is going to happen. That’s been the good news since April. When will we get to see the new season premiere?

The good news has been that Blue Bloods Season 12 is going to happen. The season was confirmed back in April 2021. However, at one point, there were thoughts that Season 11 could be the last season.

There’s no need to change too much when it comes to this TV crime drama. It’s a staple for Friday nights, often being the highest-rated show in its timeslot. Fridays are not the “Death Slot” they once were for CBS.

So, what do we know about Blue Bloods Season 12 so far? Here’s a look at everything so far.

How many seasons of Blue Bloods are there?

There are currently 11 seasons of the series available to stream on Paramount+. This is all the seasons that have aired on CBS so far.

There will be another season of the show, though. Season 12 has been confirmed by the network.

Is Season 12 of Blue Bloods going to happen?

Yes, CBS confirmed back in April 2021 that the 12th season would happen. The renewal came at the same time as NCIS Season 19, SWAT Season 5, and more.

How many episodes are in Blue Bloods Season 12?

It’s not 100% clear yet just how many episodes will be in the season. Usually, a season is made up of 22 to 24 episodes, but there were only 16 episodes in Season 11. This was linked to the pandemic.

There were delays returning to filming, which meant delays to the premiere date. Filming was continually delayed due to the protocols on set, which meant the unpredictable schedule and the shorter season.

We could be looking at 16 to 18 episodes this time. While filming shouldn’t be delayed in terms of getting started, there are still protocols on set to follow, which means there could be some delays for each episode.

When is Blue Bloods Season 12 filming?

Production hasn’t started yet, but it shouldn’t be too long before it does. There’s a good chance that filming will get started sometime in July 2021. This would get enough episodes in the bank for a fall premiere date.

Blue Bloods Season 12 release date

We’re not looking at the November start that Season 11 got. Instead, we’re looking at the show moving back to the normal release time: the end of September 2021.

This may get delayed to October if there are long breaks needed during filming. However, things are starting to get back on track, which suggests that filming should start as normal.

Blue Bloods is currently available to stream on Paramount+. Season 12 will air on Fridays at 10/9c on CBS in the fall.
