If you love a show that isn’t afraid to shock, Big Sky is the series to check out. What do we know about Big Sky Season 2 so far?

When it comes to most TV crime dramas, you can pretty much ensure the lead characters will survive. That’s not what Big Sky offered. The very first episode saw the biggest name on the show killed off abruptly, leaving us wondering what could happen next.

And the show continued with this pattern. That takes us into a second season with not really trusting anyone or anything. For me, that’s great! It means every episode keeps me on my toes.

The good news is Big Sky Season 2 is happening. Here’s everything we know about the season so far.

How many seasons of Big Sky are there?

Right now, there is only one season of Big Sky available to watch. It’s on Hulu to binge-watch at your own leisure.

Season 2 has been confirmed, and it will air on ABC.

Is Season 2 of Big Sky going to happen?

Yes, Season 2 is happening.

It didn’t take long for ABC to give the series an extended season order. However, it took a little while longer for Big Sky Season 2 to be confirmed. Fortunately, that eventually happened.

How many episodes are in Big Sky Season 2?

It’s not clear just how many episodes there will be in the season. The first season originally had 10 episodes and was then extended to 16. That meant the writers had to add more to the story, taking content from another book in The Highway series by C.J. Box.

Most fall dramas have 22 episodes to the season, although things were different in the 2020–2021 season. Big Sky Season 2 could have a full season, but we’ll have to see what the plans are. Elwood Reid is taking over duties as showrunner, and that could affect things.

When is Big Sky Season 2 filming?

Filming of fall shows usually begins in July of each year. That was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic, but we’re expecting filming to happen as normal in 2021. That’s especially the case for Big Sky, which films in B.C., Canada where filming has been a little more predictable.

We’re keeping an eye on when filming happens.

Big Sky Season 2 release date

ABC has confirmed that Big Sky Season 2 will be part of the fall 2021 lineup. It’s moving to Thursdays, taking the post-Grey’s Anatomy timeslot in the TGIT lineup. This can be a difficult timeslot, but we’re hoping there are plenty of fans willing to migrate to Thursday nights for the series.

There isn’t a set release date just yet. Most fall shows premiere at the end of September of each year on ABC. If filming can happen as expected in the summer, there’s no reason for this not to happen.

Big Sky Season 2 will air Thursdays at 10/9c on ABC in fall 2021. Episodes will be on Hulu the following day.
