If you’re looking for a dramedy, Hulu has you covered. Only Murders in the Building is arriving on the platform tonight. Here’s all you need to know.

Sometimes, we want our TV crime dramas to be more like dramedies. Or we want something fun and light, similar to Agatha Raisin on Acorn TV. Only Murders in the Building is sure to resonate with those needs.

The first three episodes will arrive on Hulu tonight. Episodes drop at 12:01 a.m. PT/3:01 a.m. ET. The good news is they’ll be there when you wake up if you just can’t stay up to watch them. They’re worth staying up for, though!

Yes, it is only the first three episodes. The series is getting a hybrid release, similar to Nine Perfect Strangers and The Handmaid’s Tale. It’s a method that has worked well for Hulu from the very beginning, so it’s not all that surprising that the streamer is sticking with it for its biggest releases.

What is Only Murders in the Building about?

Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez star as three neighbors in a New York apartment building. They all have a love for true crime, but they don’t really know each other. That is until there’s a murder in their apartment building.

They decide to start a true-crime podcast together. Of course, this is less than conventional, and they’re sure to make a mess of the crime scene. However, we get to see their eccentric personalities play out against this need to create content that uncovers the murderer in real-time.

It’s a satire. If you’re looking for a serious TV crime drama, you’ll want to wait for the fall shows to air at the end of September. However, if you love humor mixed in with your drama, Only Murders in the Building is most definitely for you.
