Hondo had some big decisions about his career to make at the end of SWAT Season 4. What can we expect from him on SWAT Season 5?

Hondo’s career was on the line at the end of SWAT Season 4. He made a big decision in the hope of bringing some sort of change to the LAPD. When racist cops weren’t kicked off the force despite the evidence against them, Hondo chose to go to the press. It was a bold move, and one that he knew could lead to him losing his job.

In the end, he wasn’t kicked off the force. However, there was a punishment. The top brass demoted him from being the leader of David Team.

Hondo knows that the brass wants to force him out. By demoting him, there is some sort of punishment but it’s not an attack on a Black cop. Now he has to choose whether to leave or not.

What decision will Hondo make on SWAT Season 5?

The SWAT Season 5 premiere is going to be Hondo-centric. It’s set in Mexico, where we’ll find Hondo making his decision.

Hicks gave Hondo some time off to think about things. So, Hondo is heading to Mexico where he gets some much-needed R&R. It’s meant to be a time for him to think about his career decisions, and he’s definitely not supposed to be working any cases.

That changes when he gets involved in a case involving a child. He just can’t help himself at times. One thing is likely: the case will probably make him realize everything that he loves about the job. There is no series without Hondo so there’s no way he’s being written out.

He’ll need to learn how to be a teammate again instead of the leader. He’s done it before, but it’s not always easy going back to that. We’ll probably see Hondo slip up now and then.

There will also be some personal storylines. We’ll get to see Hondo continue to connect with his father and try to help Darryl. With Leroy stepping up for Hondo when it counted, there’s a chance we’ll see the two of them find a deeper understanding and friendship. Can Hondo see that people can change?

Next. Will SWAT Season 5 be the last?. dark
