CSI: Vegas is the revival that many fans had been waiting for. It was a chance to see Gil and Sara again. Will there be more with CSI: Vegas Season 2?

If there was one couple we wanted to see back on our screens, it was Gil and Sara. We needed to see them working together again, but we also needed to see their romantic relationship. The latter is something that has disappointed fans with this new revival, especially with the most recent episode and the lack of kiss.

We’re almost at the halfway mark of the first season at the time of publishing this. The series was originally billed as a limited event series, but there was always a chance that a renewal could happen.

We’re looking at the chances of a renewal. Could CSI: Vegas Season 2 happen?

CSI: Vegas Season 2 probably won’t happen

We don’t like seeing shows canceled. It means a lot of people out of jobs. However, not all shows can make it another season, and CSI: Vegas is probably one of those shows.

The main factor is that it was billed as an event series. William Petersen and Jorja Fox agreed to come back for a season, but there are no talks of them continuing their roles for a second season. Instead, this event series looked to be a way to introduce a new crime lab team. Just look at the way the episodes have been set up with the cases of the week involving the rest of the team.

It’s been hard to get to know the other team members. They also don’t seem to gel as much as the original Vegas crime lab team.

What also doesn’t help CSI: Vegas Season 2 happening is the low live TV ratings. The show currently has an average of 3.7 million viewers and a 0.4 demo rating. It sits in 17th out of 19 scripted shows, and one of those shows is moving to Paramount+ exclusively. So, it’s in 17th out of 18 shows.

The decision to put it on Wednesdays at 10/9c was a bad move. It would have made better sense putting it on after episodes of Survivor. CBS thought all the CSI fans would migrate to the new timeslot, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Of course, this all depends on what the streaming numbers are like. All episodes head to Paramount+ the day after. If this proves to be a success, we could see a renewal either on CBS or exclusively on Paramount+.
