Yes, it is a Sunday, but CBS is making a small change to its schedule. There’s a new episode of NCIS: Hawaii on, and you won’t want to miss it.

We don’t want you to miss the new episode of NCIS: Hawaii that’s coming on a different night. This isn’t a sign CBS is concerned about the series. Instead, it’s a sign that CBS is confident in how the series is performing.

We’re at that time of year where Sundays are taken up by big sports games. Sunday, Jan. 23 is one of the big playoff games, and CBS is airing that game. Whenever there is a big playoff game, CBS puts on a new episode of a show that the network wants to see continue. Last year, we got an episode of FBI after the playoff game and then The Equalizer premiered after the Super Bowl.

CBS only has a playoff game this year. NBC will air the Super Bowl. So, there’s only time for one series, and NCIS: Hawaii has been given the opportunity. I had thought it would be FBI: International, but NCIS: Hawaii also makes a lot of sense.

What to expect on NCIS: Hawaii Season 1, Episode 12

This is the first hour of a two-hour episode. The second part will air on Monday, Jan. 24 at the usual time. At least there isn’t long to wait for the conclusion.

The team will be involved in the investigation of the death of Joseph Chan, a Navy engineer who may have been connected to a Chinese black op secret agent. David Sola, a New Zealand intelligence service case officer arrives in Hawaii investigating that part of the story.

Jane will find this case hits personally. Her mentor and friend, Maggie Shaw, met with Chan before he died. Now she has been kidnapped. This really is going to be a case of all hands on deck.

Take a look at the synopsis for NCIS: Hawaii Season 1, Episode 12:

When NCIS investigates the mysterious death of a Navy engineer, Joseph Chan, they learn the last person he met with was his colleague, Maggie Shaw (Julie White), Jane’s mentor and friend, who’s been kidnapped. Also, David Sola, a New Zealand intelligence service case officer arrives in Hawai’i, following a lead in his case that connects Joseph’s death to a Chinese black op secret agent.
