Who killed Bunny in Only Murders in the Building Season 2?

The Only Murders in the Building Season 2 finale brought us answers about Bunny’s murder. Who did kill her? Was it Cinda Canning?

During the penultimate episode, Only Murders in the Building Season 2 has us thinking Cinda Canning was the murderer. That was just too obvious, right? Well, it looked like our trio of podcasters were working with that path.

They had the knife that had the killer’s DNA on it. While trying to figure out why Cinda would want Bunny dead, Mabel made sure Detective Williams got the knife. Slowly, everything started to come together. The “14 Savage” comment from Bunny finally made sense.

Cinda didn’t kill Bunny in Only Murders in the Building Season 2

It wasn’t Cinda. Again, that was just too obvious. However, it didn’t stop Oliver, Charles, and Mabel getting her into Bunny’s apartment to accuse her.

Mabel changed her opinion partway through the reveal. She realized that there was something artistic about the killing. There was only one artist who could have done it. Alice!

Mabel noted that Alice was new in town. She needed to get her gallery going, and what better way than to have an A-list celebrity working with her? Alice was already willing to use Mabel for her artwork in other ways, so why not kill Bunny and frame the trio of podcasters?

Alice lashed out and stabbed Charles in the stomach. Mabel and Oliver held his hands while he died.

At least, that’s what it looked like. As Cinda comforted Mabel and shared that she wanted Mabel to come work for her, the real killer finally came out of the woodwork.

It was Poppy, who was actually Becky Butler. Cinda had no idea who Poppy actually was, but Kreps did. Kreps helped Poppy disappear and framed the mayor for it. Poppy was the smart woman Kreps was talking about.

Well, it turns out that Poppy eats a sandwich Bunny hated the idea of. That sandwich was #14. Bunny wasn’t saying “14 Savage” but “14 Sandwich.” Bunny had always tried to tell Mabel that it was Poppy. On top of that, Poppy’s DNA was on the murder weapon.

Why would Poppy do it? She did want the artwork because of the Rose Cooper connection. Poppy wanted to do a podcast about Rose Cooper, but Cinda didn’t see the value in it. So, Poppy decided to set up the murder, although initially told Mabel and the others to get out of the building. When they didn’t, she could set things up for the A-listers to take the fall.

Poppy didn’t initially admit to it all. She slipped up while sneezing. Poppy was allergic to the bird and slipped up when talking about the girl hiding in the secret passages. Nobody had said anything about a girl in the passages. Only the murderer would know that.

With all this, Detective Williams was able to arrest Poppy. We also saw Kreps in handcuffs. Alice and Cinda knew everything and were both in on the big reveal.

Of course, with a third season, we need another murder. That happened on stage at the end of Only Murders in the Building Season 2.
