Niecy Nash-Betts will be back on our screens in no time at all. Get ready for The Rookie: Feds premiere on ABC. We even have a new promo trailer.

There is no doubt minute we saw the backdoor pilot, we know The Rookie: Feds was a hit. Who doesn’t love more Niecy Nash-Betts on their screens?

We don’t have much longer left to wait for the new series. It arrives at the end of September, and it’s going to be worth the wait. The new promo makes that very clear. Now we just need to know exactly when it will arrive, and what we can expect from the series.

The Rookie: Feds premiere date

ABC didn’t waste much time in confirming premiere dates for the fall schedule. The Rookie: Feds will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 27.

The episode will air at 10 o.m. ET. This is The Rookie‘s former timeslot, which is a tricky one. However, we’re hoping that the delayed viewings on Hulu will help if the live ratings are low. We still think putting it on the same night as the OG series would have made a better decision, but ABC knows its schedule.

The Rookie: Feds cast

Of course, Niecy Nash-Betts will play the leading lady, Simone Clark. She is the oldest trainee at the FBI Academy, and she makes it clear in the new promo that she has to impress immediately.

We will also see the following star in the series:

  • Frankie Faison as Christopher “Cutty” Clark
  • Felix Solis as Matthew Garza
  • Britt Robertson as Laura Stensen
  • Kevin Zegers as Brendon Acres
  • James Lesure as Carter Hope

Do expect some crossovers here and there with The Rookie. This could be just the odd character popping up, such as we see Nathan Fillion’s John Nolan at the airport to greet Simone. It could also be for crossover events.

Kat Foster was in the backdoor pilot. However, her character Special Agent Casey Fox was cut from the series. There wasn’t a reason given for this, but it sounds like a creative one.

The Rookie: Feds promo

The new promo trailer is out, giving us a hint of the dramedy that we’ll get. We don’t see Simone interact with too many of her colleagues, so that’s going to be fun to see when the series comes out. We do get to see Nolan meeting Simone at the airport, though.

The Rookie: Feds synopsis

The series has a similar premise to the OG series. Nash-Betts’s Simone Clark is the oldest trainee at the FBI Academy. She will need to prove that she has what it takes, and she knows the stakes are high for her. She will put in the effort, just like Nolan did when he became a cop.

We’ll also get to see more of Simone’s family throughout the first season. Her estranged father is just part of the puzzle.

The Rookie: Feds will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 10/9c on ABC.
