A new week of TV crime dramas is here. Broadcast is picking up with the return of more TV shows. Here are five releases you won’t want to miss.
Last week saw the return of a lot of great broadcast shows. You’ll have watched the NCIS crossover event, the premieres of Big Sky and Chicago PD, and will have likely binge-watched Dahmer on Netflix.
A new week is here, and that means new content. There are some great shows that you will not want to miss. Some of them are on broadcast, while others are on streaming platforms. It can get overwhelming throughout the week, so here are the top five picks for this week.
The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds as the first TV crime dramas
The first two on the list are part of the same franchise. The Rookie Season 5 premieres tomorrow night, Sunday, Sept. 25. It picks up off the back of that Chenford kiss. It’s time to find out where the two stand after that. How will undercover work go?
On Tuesday, Sept. 27, you’ll definitely want to check out the new Rookie series. The Rookie: Feds is where it’s at. This show follows Simone Clark, the oldest recruit at the FBI Academy. She needs to prove that she belongs in the FBI, which she managed to do in the two-episode backdoor pilot during The Rookie Season 4. How will things go for her throughout the new series?
Recipes for Love and Murder new episodes
Maria Doyle Kennedy is not an actress you want to miss out on. She’s taken on the lead role of Tannie Maria in Recipes for Love and Murder, with six episodes currently available to stream on Acorn TV. Two more drop tonight.
We’re over the halfway mark now, and Martine’s dad has a last-minute will that doesn’t appear to be what it originally seems. The doctors also learn about what caused her dad’s collapse. Meanwhile, Maria is trying to keep her own past where it belongs, but her own memories are getting harder and harder to control.
Suspect on BritBox for a binge-watch
If you’re looking for a binge-watch, BritBox has your back this week. Suspect is a must-watch. The British drama stars James Nesbitt, Joely Richardson, Richard E. Grant, and Sam Heughan.
It follows Nesbitt’s Danny, who is called in to identify a body. It turns out that the body is that of his estranged daughter, and it’s apparently a suicide. Danny refuses to believe that, and so he starts an investigation into her death. As he realizes that he didn’t know his daughter all that well, he also realizes that she had far more enemies than he’d like to see.
All eight episodes are available to stream on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
CSI: Vegas Season 2 premiere
CBS has a couple of premieres this week. The first on the list is CSI: Vegas Season 2. It’s certainly one of the TV crime dramas to check out.
While Gil and Sara won’t be part of the show, we will see another OG character return. Marg Helgenberger is coming back as Catherine Willows. What calls her in on the case, and how can she help? We’ll get to find out in the new season, which is set to be longer than the first season of the revival.
The premiere airs on Thursday, Sept. 29.
The Gabby Petito Story on Lifetime
Finally, there’s something for the true crime fans out there. Lifetime has The Gabby Petito Story coming out on Saturday night.
Many of you will remember the headlines about Gabby Petito. She was murdered during a cross-country trip with her fiance Brian Laundrie. What happened during the trip? Why did nobody hear her cries for help throughout the journey? That’s something the Lifetime movie is going to look into. Watch it on Saturday, Oct. 1.
