The first NCIS three-way crossover event has happened, and it was certainly a success. Will we get another one in the future?

Jan. 9 brought us the first ever three-way crossover between the three current NCIS shows. Things started with the OG series and then continued in NCIS: Hawaii and then NCIS: Los Angeles. It was an exciting three-episode event that even included a voice cameo of a character we miss a lot right now.

Since the crossover aired, all eyes are on whether it could happen again. Callen and Hanna seemed up for it, but Torres and Tennant do not. The question is whether the actors, writers, and crews want to see the three shows crossover again.

What’s stopping another NCIS three-way crossover event

Let’s be honest; it’s not the ratings that are going to stop this event happening again. All three shows were up considerably in both the demos and audiences. In fact, the three shows got the best ratings of each of their seasons. That’s not surprising as fans of the individual shows would join in for the other shows to see the full storyline play out.

There are a few other things that could affect another crossover happening. One of those is the shows being renewed.

The OG series looks pretty safe right now in terms of live ratings. NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaii are among the lowest-rated shows on CBS. This could put both of them in the firing line. Could we see two shows in the franchise end or will the fact that NCIS: Hawaii is pretty strong for the Monday 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot going to be enough to keep it safe?

Another thing that stops the crossover is logistics. It’s not easy getting everyone together. This NCIS three-way crossover event was filmed backward to make it work.
