Fans of Will Trent finally know when it will be ending its freshman season as hopes remain the show gets a renewal.

ABC has announced a slew of dates for their 2022-23 TV finales, which include the popular procedural drama. The show stars Ramón Rodriguez in the title role of a brilliant, if eccentric, investigator for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. He uses his skills to solve crimes while hiding how he actually has dyslexia.

The series co-stars Erika Christensen as Will’s long-time friend and on/off lover Angie, an Atlanta cop, while Iantha Richardson plays Will’s driven partner, Faith Richardson.

The show has done well balancing the crime plots with quirky bits like Will’s unlikely friendship with his dog handler and clashing with other cops.

The show is growing a good audience, thanks to having The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds as lead-ins on Tuesday nights. Now fans know when to expect the season 1 finale.

When does the Season 1 finale of Will Trent air?

As part of an announcement of several season finales, ABC confirmed the Season 1 finale of Will Trent will air on May 2, following the season finales for The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds.

This will cap the season at 13 episodes, which is standard for a mid-season series. There is no word yet on a renewal, although fans are hopeful the series can pull it off. ABC might decide the show is a good fit on Tuesdays to continue it and build on its success. The decision for this show, in particular, is expected in May just before the Upfronts.

At least fans know when to expect Will Trent to end and are hopeful this is only the first of many season finales to come.

Will Trent airs Tuesdays at 10/9c on ABC and streams on Hulu.
