Is Will Trent new tonight? (Tuesday April 4)
Will Trent is taking a few weeks off before returning for a fresh run of episodes leading to the Season 1 finale.
The ABC procedural has been a surprise success both in the ratings and with critics, with hopes for a Season 2 renewal. While that hasn’t been confirmed, the show’s chances are good thanks to having The Rookie and The Rookie: Feds as lead-ins.
The show did take a break in March, so it might be a surprise to have another break already. However, ABC is using the time to help new viewers catch up on the series.
Thus, Tuesday April 4 has Episode 7, “Unable to Locate” at 9/8c, with Episode 8, “Two Hundred Dollars and a Bus Pass,” airing right afterward. Then March 11 has Episodes 9 & 10 airing back to back.
So when the show returns on April 18, it’ll be with the last three episodes of the season, with the Season 1 finale airing on May 2. ABC naturally figures keeping a run of episodes until the end makes more sense and hence the break.
What’s coming when Will Trent returns?
So far, all that’s known of Episode 11 is the title, “Bill Black.” The promo indicates someone is hunting kids from the foster system, which includes Will, and gives him a personal edge in this case.
It’s also likely to play on the subplot of Angie confronting the man who molested her as a teenager, with Angie convinced the guy is going to do the same to his stepdaughter. That might lead her into a dark place.
So while it will be a bit before Will Trent returns, fans can expect a good run to the Season 1 finale when it does come back.
