The midseason finale had Rollins and Carisi surprising the team by getting married in a courthouse. Rollins then decided that SVU was too much for her and accepted a job as a criminology professor at a nearby college. She got an emotional farewell from the team, especially Benson.
This came amid some controversy as Giddish acknowledged leaving the show wasn’t fully her decision but was pushed by some higher-ups in Dick Wolf Entertainment. It was said the door was open for her return and it looks like it’s going to be used.

Per Entertainment Weekly, Rollins will be returning in the upcoming Season 24 finale set to air May 19. The big news is that Rollins is now pregnant with her third child and first with Carisi.
It’s unsure if this is just a cameo or if Rollins is a bigger part of the episode. However, it shows Giddish is still on good terms with the showrunners and fans will be happy to see Rollins back and in a family way for a happy future.
