Is a new episode of Chicago PD on NBC tonight? (April 12)

We’re ready to see the next case Intelligence is set to work on. When will a new episode of Chicago PD air on NBC? Here’s a look at the plan.

Eyes are on the next case for Intelligence. We know from the promo that it’s going to involve Atwater and his dad. The bad news is we have a bit of a wait on our hands for that episode. It is definitely not going to air tonight, Wednesday, April 12.

There is at least a rerun of the series on tonight. There will be reruns for a while as NBC ensures that there are enough episodes left to air throughout the month of May.

When will Chicago PD return with new episodes on NBC?

This is a long-ish wait, about the same length as a few other breaks in the schedule recently. We will not get a new episode of Chicago PD throughout April. The next episode is going to air on Wednesday, May 3.

We’ll get to see more of Atwater and his dad. When a kid goes missing, a neighbor tells Atwater that his dad knew the kid. How is this possible? How is his dad involved in the case Intelligence is trying to get to the bottom of? That’s something Voight wants to know. It turns out that Atwater’s dad was in a particular bar, and now he wants to know why.

This break is clearly due to scheduling needs. We’re getting close to the end of the season. Presuming the show has 22 episodes this year, we’ll get four weeks of new episodes in a row when it returns. NBC hasn’t confirmed the episode count for the season, though, so it’s hard to say when the finale will air just yet.
