Hot off the heels of their latest renewals, all three Law & Order shows are taking a break. So when do they return with new episodes?
It’s been a big week for the Law & Order franchise as NBC announced that Law & Order will be back for Season 23, Special Victims Unit is returning for a record 25th season, and Organized Crime is getting a 13-episode Season 4.
This comes just as all three Law & Order shows will be on a break until Thursday, April 27. This may be a surprise as the series did have a long break from February into late March. The most likely explanation is that NBC wants to hold off on new episodes and then run a fresh batch leading to the various season finales to air on Thursday, May 19.
So fans will have a couple of weeks off until the Law & Order franchise returns but can be expecting some good excitement when they come back.
What’s coming when the Law & Order shows return?
The mothership Law & Order will feature “Private Lives” as a physician is murdered, but his politician wife believes she was the real target. The case will become complicated when one of the victim’s young patients is called on to testify.
Law & Order: SVU has “Bend the Law” which has the return of Betty Buckley as Bureau Chief Lorraine Maxwell. But the team is concerned when her husband is a person of interest in an investigation. Meanwhile, Velasco has to arrest an old friend for murder.
Law & Order: Organized Crime will feature “A Diplomatic Solution” as the team has to protect a UN diplomat from an assassination attempt. But Stabler is worried over the deteriorating condition of his mother (Ellen Burstyn).
So while it’ll be a few weeks before the Law & Order shows return, at least they have some big stuff coming when they do.
