The CBS reboot of the 1994 spy thriller has enhanced the romantic plotlines in the last few weeks. This past episode had Helen facing up to the fact that Harry had been lying to her throughout their marriage on his spy life. That included Harry getting Helen a birthday necklace, unaware Gib had gotten Helen one just like it a couple of years earlier.
The pair had to handle this on a mission, with both manipulating the girlfriend of an investor who was causing disasters to get rich. She was upset upon learning the truth, but it oddly made Harry and Helen bond better on their own marriage.
They weren’t the only romance tested in the episode. Maria realized that Luther was secretly dating lab tech Quinn, despite his denials. In the end, Maria encouraged the pair to be more open in their relationship.
Sadly, Gib wasn’t as lucky in love. During the mission, his girlfriend Eva realized that Gib had set up an AI program to text messages to her and broke up with him over the manipulations
As it happens, this week’s episode promises to put relationships in Omega Sector on edge as the gang get a look at their possible future.

“Bitter Sweethearts” is notable for guest-starring Tom Arnold, who played Gib in the original 1994 movie. He and Kate Vernon (Battlestar Galactica) play a pair of retired operatives called on to stop an assassin.
The promo shows Arnold isn’t happy to be pulled back into the field. The big turn is that the pair offer a glimpse to Harry and Helen on what being spies can do to a long-term marriage.
With big guest stars and more mix of action and comedy-romance, this should be a fun episode before the big True Lies Season 1 finale.
