After a few weeks away, Law & Order: SVU is coming back, fresh off a renewal for a historic 25th season later this fall. The last new episode had the team investigating a woman’s claims of being assaulted by the son of a powerful tycoon.
It took a dark turn at the realization the woman was treating her grown son like a child, complete with sleeping in the same bed. It later came out that she’d tried to poison her ex-husband and it was her manipulations that drove the man to his act.
Despite a witness backing out at the last minute, the team was still able to prove their case and get the woman behind bars with her son having a shot at a new life. That was the last fresh episode for a bit, but this week’s installment will put several personal lives on focus.
Law & Order: SVU spoilers for Season 24, Episode 19
“Bend the Law” brings back Betty Buckley as Bureau Chief Lorraine Maxwell. However, it’s not a happy reunion for the SVU team as Maxwell’s husband is a person of interest in an investigation. That puts Carisi in the unenviable position of going around his own boss on a case, which is sure to cause complications.
Meanwhile, it appears that Velasco will finally need to take down an old friend for a murder committed in Mexico, which is sure to be tough on him. Those cases should make this a good return for Law & Order: SVU and set up the Season 24 finale in May.
