What is The Housemaid about?
The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is getting a feature adaptation. What is the book about, and why will it be worth the watch?
Rebecca Sonnenshine is in the news for an upcoming project, according to Deadline. She’ll pen and produce a new feature based on The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. You may have seen the book around. After all, it has been on Amazon’s bestseller list for some time. Now there’s a sequel The Handmaid’s Secret that you won’t want to skip out on.
Of course, some people prefer to watch the adaptation first. They just want to know the basics to know what to expect and whether it’s for them. Is this novel adaptation going to be for you? Here’s everything you need to know (without spoilers).
What is The Housemaid by Freida McFadden about?
The book follows Millie, a woman not long out of prison who is down on her luck. She’s just been fired from her first job since getting out and is now living in her car. She needs to find a job, and it looks like the perfect job has come up: the chance to be a live-in maid for Nina Winchester.
As soon as she moves in, everything changes. Suddenly, Nina goes from praise to threatening, but Millie can’t do anything. If she even tries, she’ll be back out on the street and back in prison. When she starts to get feelings for Nina’s husband, Andrew, things get even worse for her.
However, it turns out that things are not all as they seem for Nina Winchester. Why does the attic bedroom only lock from the outside?
This is certainly a twisty psychological thriller that doesn’t go the way that you would expect. It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out in the movie.
The Housemaid by Freida McFadden is available to buy on Amazon or wherever you get your books.
