Is Bosch: Legacy renewed for Season 3? (Is Bosch: Legacy canceled?)
Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of Bosch: Legacy on Freevee. But is it possible that more than one new season of the spin-off is coming to viewers?
The original Bosch was one of Prime Video’s first major hit original series. Based on the novels by Michael Connelly, the series focused on Harry Bosch (Titus Welliver), a veteran LAPD detective handling a variety of cases.
The show was a success, running for seven seasons and ending with Bosch being disgusted by the politics of the LAPD and quitting. Bosch: Legacy premiered on Freevee in 2022, with Bosch now a private eye while his daughter Maddie (Madison Lintz) became a rookie cop.
The first season ended with Bosch discovering Maddie had been kidnapped. That was a big cliffhanger, as the series was renewed for a second season. But is more coming?
Is Bosch: Legacy Season 3 happening?
Amazon surprised many by announcing not only is Bosch: Legacy Season 2 coming in the fall, but a third season has already been ordered. This shows some huge confidence by the streamer in the show and the hope of its success. Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD Originals, released a statement on the show.
"“The story of Harry Bosch has evolved over the years, and his journey is far from over. This renewal of Bosch: Legacy is a testament to the enduring power of the world Michael Connelly built. We look forward to giving Bosch fandom the next chapter for these beloved characters.”"
Connelly himself (a writer and executive producer on the series) added his own thoughts:
"“What a gift and a joy it is to be able to dig into these characters again and take their stories even further. Ten years ago, we began this amazing journey, partnering with Prime Video and now Amazon Freevee, and I couldn’t be happier with what we’ve done and will do.”"
What’s coming in Bosch: Legacy Season 2?
As Bosch and lawyer partner Holly Chandler (Mimi Rogers) seek out Maddie, the FBI suspects the pair of being involved in the murder of hedge fund millionaire Carl Rogers.
The entire Season 1 cast will return for Season 2. Also added on are David Denman as Kurt Dockweiler, Patrick Brennan as David Foster, Rafael Cabrera as Vince Harrick, Bruce Davison as James Rafferty, Jessica Camacho as Jade Quinn, and Guy Wilson as Detective Kevin Long.
In other good news, Amazon confirmed that plans are underway for a spin-off starring Jamie Hector as Detective Jerry Edgar, undergoing a dangerous undercover assignment.
With the news that Bosch: Legacy is going to continue for an extra season, fans can enjoy the upcoming Season 2 confident that Harry Bosch’s adventures will go on for a while.
