Law & Order: Special Victims Unit is preparing to kick off the last episodes of Season 24 this week. Here are the Law & Order: SVU spoilers for Season 24, Episode 20.

The last episode of Law & Order: SVU had a wild opening of a woman storming into a gentleman’s club with a shotgun, looking for her cheating husband. Finding him there with a trio of underage girls, she shot him.

When the team arrived, they found that one of the club members was Robert, the husband of Bureau Chief Lorraine Maxwell (Betty Buckley). Robert was also implicated as the guy who ran the entire trafficking ring for the club.

Maxwell allowed the investigation to go ahead and proceed even as she doubted her husband’s innocence. It came to an argument over dinner, with Robert choking on his food and Maxwell just watching him collapse before dialing 911.

With Robert dead, the case was done. In a private talk, Benson made it clear she knew what really happened but, flipping back to a past talk with Maxwell, was willing to keep it quiet.

Meanwhile, Velasco, with Churlish, finally tracked down his former childhood friend on a murder charge. The man had cleaned up his life, becoming a teacher, and his girlfriend even threatened to shoot Velasco herself.

Velasco gave a tape of the guy confessing to the killing to Benson to decide what to do next, which did mend the fences between them. This was a good way to wrap up that subplot before moving into a new episode.

This appears to be another stand-alone episode, although it might continue to build up the supporting cast more as Law & Order: SVU enters the last episodes of Season 24.

"“Benson tries to help a student after she’s assaulted on a field trip. Fin suspects a witness in the case may not be telling the whole truth.”"
