The penultimate episode of the ABC thriller had the Nicolettis approached by an old friend, Frankie Musso (Tony Shalhoub), who had been Fran’s former fiancee. He made a big offer to buy the bar and, driven by Leo’s health issues, the family was tempted to take it.
Meanwhile, Charlie aided Emma in trying to pull a big con on the Maguires to forge a deal with an arms dealer. However, it went badly with Patrick spotting Emma and thinking son Connor was setting him up.
Emma still tried to bring her findings to her boss, only to find out she had a new supervisor who only cared about using the Maguires to get a bigger target. A frustrated Emma went to Daphne, who had figured out the truth about her and Charlie and offered Daphne a deal to bring her father down in exchange for her freedom.
Emma and David’s mom came up with a clever ruse to defuse some potentially damaging information on David’s campaign. But during a debate, David shocked everyone by announcing he was quitting the entire race. He and Jennifer borrowed Emma’s car to leave, but when a strange sound came when starting it, they barely escaped before the car exploded.
That was a crazy ending that sets up the big Season 1 finale.
