The last Law & Order episode was a big one for Detective Frank Cosgrove (Jeffrey Donovan) as he investigated the murder of a businessman. His daughter went to the same school as Cosgrove’s own daughter, Lily, and Frank reached out to her for any insight. This led them to a young man who was convinced the victim was having an affair with his girlfriend and killed him.
McCoy wanted the guy tried as an adult over Price’s objections. Cosgrove wanted to keep his daughter from testifying but was overruled and on the stand, Lily had to share some of her personal problems, including considering suicide, to Cosgrove’s shock.
In the end, Price got the conviction even if he wasn’t happy about it, while Cosgrove and his daughter bonded more. That was a good personal episode for Cosgrove, yet it looks like this week’s installment will have a bigger moment.
Law & Order spoilers for Season 22, Episode 21
“Appraisal” has the detectives facing the difficulty of proving a murder case when they can’t find the body. It appears to be tied into a man pulling off a Bernie Madoff-style con case.
The promo shows Cosgrove seemingly shot, which can be a big cliffhanger as Law & Order moves to its final episodes in its typical dramatic way.
