There are a handful of shows still on the bubble. Walker is one of them. Well, it was until tonight, Tuesday, May 9. The CW is finally making some decisions and this is one of the shows.

Up to this point, only one current show was renewed. That was All American, which was in the agreement when Nexstar took over the network, so it doesn’t really count as a CW renewal since it was already agreed upon. Nexstar made it clear that not many other shows would make it through to the 2023-2024 season. That had us very worried for our favorites.

Is Walker Season 4 happening on The CW?

There is some good news about the series. Nexstar decided to make this the first official renewal of The CW this season. Yes, Walker Season 4 is officially happening.

There is some bad news with the renewal. It will only have 13 episodes, which is starting to become the norm for CW shows. It doesn’t necessarily mean that it will be the final season, and it’s not being billed that way, but it is a concern.

The network is looking for ways to save money. Reducing the episode count is the easiest way to do that.

Another reason for the shorter episode count is due to the writers strike. There is no say on when that will be over, and it means that production for the fourth season will likely be put on hold. The CW doesn’t want to order a full season to then have to reduce the episode count to fit into the normal TV season time frame.

Walker Season 3 will air its season finale on Thursday, May 11.
