The latest episode of FBI had fans wondering if Omar “OA” Zidan might be reconsidering his career at the FBI. Is a possible cast change coming for the series?

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for Season 5, Episode 22

“Torn” had the team called in when a pack of teenagers died of drugs laced with poison. They were soon tracking a dangerous dealer who didn’t care who died of his products. OA and Maggie turned to Valon Sula (Chris Petrovski), a young FBI recruit who idolized OA. It was a talk from OA at his school years ago that inspired Valon to join the FBI and look up to another Muslim agent.

During the case, it became clear that Valon was more devout to Muslim teachings than OA was. For example, he risked his cover by refusing alcohol while OA was munching on snacks when he should have been fasting during Ramadan. OA defended it to Maggie on how being in the military taught him to be more “flexible” about his faith.

Part of the job included OA having to distract an imam where he talks of his lack of faith with the imam being quite judgemental of OA not being a true Muslim. When OA fought the drug dealer, Sula ended up shooting him. Sula told OA he couldn’t be as flexible on his faith so quit the FBI.

That clearly affected OA as he headed to pray in a temple and wrestled with his faith against his job. So could OA decide to follow Sula out of the force?

Is Zeeko Zaki leaving FBI?

So far, there’s no word that Zeeko Zaki is thinking of leaving FBI. OA will be in the Season 5 finale and there’s usually some word when an actor is preparing to leave the series.

It’s likely this is another way to build up OA’s character as he fights between his faith and his duties as an FBI agent. Thus fans can be assured for now OA isn’t likely to be turning in his badge but rather dedicate himself more to the job.

The Season 5 finale airs on Tuesday, May 23 at 8/7c on CBS and streams on Paramount+.
