Scola had to make a huge decision in the FBI Season 5 finale. Yes, it involved Nina and the baby. What decision did he make, and what happened to the baby?

Caution: This post contains spoilers for the FBI Season 5 finale.

Scola had to make a decision no soon-to-be parent wants to make, but even with advanced medicine, they need to. While we’re not at the point of childbirth killing the levels of women it did in the 16th century, it still kills a lot of women. The other parent routinely needs to make a decision of save the baby or save the mother.

Well, that’s what Scola nearly had to face. He and Nina learned she had an infection that could pass to the baby. The baby’s heart rate was already dropping, but the doctor was confident in antibiotics treating the infection first. When it was clear that wasn’t enough, Nina had to be induced.

Were Nina and the baby okay in the FBI Season 5 finale?

Nina was willing to do anything it took to save the baby. Scola was told he may need to make a choice. Would it be the baby or the mother? How could he possibly make that sort of choice?

The good news is Scola didn’t need to make that choice. Well, he did, but it didn’t come to fruition. As the doctors took Nina to the delivery room, Scola said to choose her and not the baby if necessary. At one point, it looked like the doctors had to do that with a shot of Scola hugging a crying Nina on the bed.

Don’t worry, though. The baby was born healthy. The team was at the hospital and got the invitation to see Scola, who introduced the team to Douglas, named after Scola’s brother.

The FBI Season 5 finale will be on Paramount+ on Wednesday, May 24.
