With the way things ended with the previous episode of NCIS, we need more. Is there going to be a new episode tonight, Monday, May 29?

We got to see a huge case with Torres undercover in jail during the previous episode. Torres was thrown for a loop when he learned something important, and it led to him holding a gun at someone who wasn’t a suspect in a case at the end.

The bad news is we won’t get any answers as to what’s going to happen next this week. There is no new episode of the series tonight. In fact, there isn’t even a rerun of the popular crime drama tonight. Instead, CBS has A Salute to the Beach Boys in the 9 p.m. ET/PT timeslot for the rest of the night.

When will NCIS return with new episodes on CBS?

The previous episode was the Season 20 finale. Yes, that means we are now in the summer hiatus. We do know that NCIS Season 21 is happening, and CBS is planning on bringing it back in the fall. The show will remain on Mondays, where it has helped to boost that timeslot after a few struggling years.

Just when exactly is the fall? Usually, we would say to expect the show at the end of September. That’s probably not going to happen this year, and it’s got nothing to do with CBS testing out a new schedule. It’s got everything to do with the current strike action.

The writers are on strike. Without writers, there are no scripts. That means production can’t happen. The writers would need to get back to work in June to be able to start production in July for a September start. It’s not looking like that will happen as the studios still haven’t come to an agreement as to what they will offer the writers as a negotiation.

We’re potentially looking at a 2024 start. We’ll keep an eye on this.
